I post the following poem quite simply because Tololy’s Box should get back in sync with its regular rhythm. Those poetic verses send a chill down my spine every time I read them, for I know fully what they mean. I hope you enjoy the read.
Funeral Blues
Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last for ever; I was wrong.The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood,
For nothing now can ever come to any good.W.H.Auden
very strong words , thanks

I should have visited earlier, great poem, even better posts. thank you for clearing things to other.
I like this sense of drama taking place in Jordan. You have beautiful eyes.
Forgive the shallow connection, but I remember when this poem was read by Scottish actor John Hannah during the film “Four Weddings and a Funeral”. It was haunting and beautiful then, as now. You have perfectly captured the feelings I get whenever I hear about a such a terrible tragedy as happened in Jordan last week.
Mbazzm, you are most welcome. I hope you enjoy your exploration of Tololy’s Box.
Black Cats, as usual, you share nice words with us all.
Sabri Hakim, you’re famous now, I understand. I am kidding, in case someone does not know this, Sabri Hakim; a reader of Tololy’s Box and a fellow Jordanian blogger, has been featured on CNN America for pictures he took of the Amman bombings. I am proud of him.
Rami Abdelrahman, you flatter me.
She, welcome to the box. I remember the scene you speak of clearly, it is most touching indeed. I hope you find things appealing to you in Tololy’s Box. I certainly hope you drop by again.
