Tololy -
Wow, what a surprise! I drop by for a dose of intellectual wonderment and I find a post referencing me and my post about media! I am honored to be featured in a post on your site, and I hope our voices on this issue will cause a movement and a coming together of like-minded people.

Marcy, it's great to get support from people who are passionate, like you. I will respond to your post on my site, I've already filled Tololy's comments section :)

Dear Marcy/?????

First off, welcome to Tololy's Box. It is an honour to have you here with me and my readership.

I share your worries, expressed in the last paragraph of your comment, but I somehow carry myself optimistically with this regard. Why I feel optimistic about this, I do not really know. It strikes me as silly actually.

I do hope Jordan does not succumb to the temptation of extremism, which so many people have been hailing, then hating, and now are hailing again, mistakenly thinking that it is the right step to take to "protect" higher values.

Dear Tololy,

I really like the ideas you and Lulu are expressing and feel that there is a very important void in the Jordanian media; you both need to get your ideas out to a wider public audience. I have heard and read Jordanians who think they should follow the U.S. example, which is in fact following Israel's example, and this is why so many Muslim men (and sometimes men who look or seem Muslim) have been beaten up, put in jail (without charge or trial), and why so many mosques have dealt with similar extreme hate crimes.

I worry that Jordan will rush into something; certainly it only took about 24 hours to get metal detectors into major public places here so who knows how long it will take for similar action. Getting your ideas out there and asking Jordanians to learn by Amreeka's horrible example will be an important thing to do!
