Feet on grass

In Bits & pieces, Literature, Picturesque on December 2, 2005 at 12:16 am

Those are feet
Polished and neat
Resting after a run-around
On grass trimmed
By a bunch of Mexicans

  1. Toes were probably painted by a Vietnamese pedicurist trying to make a living by pampering the feet of the rich. At least that’s what it’s like out here in surreal-land.

  2. “a very honest poem” part 2

  3. Lulu, my friend,

It is a phenomenon, no? Asian people seem to have a knack for working with feet, and they generally do a marvellous job at that. Alas, my friend, those toes were painted by no other than poor yours truly, in surreal-land.

Nas, probably honest, possibly a poem.

  4. while on feet, I posted an entry a couple of days back, but well it was on a “foot” though with a saucony on :-)

  5. Niwhsa,

I will visit your blog and read that entry, thanks for sharing the link.

  6. :) Apologies for any confusion. When I saw the picture and the accompanying poem, it struck a chord with me, for I live in a place that is abundant with money and spoiled lifestyles. So, I took the picture and words and related them to my experience and to what has been weighing on my mind - which is the surreal nature of the community within which I exist. :) Good job with the toes!

  7. The grass is really green…those fellas do a great job…

  8. Lulu, no apologies called-for. I think they charged 25$ for a pedicure, in most corners in Royal Oak. Nothing flashy, mind you. Just regular boothes here and there in malls and such, but I never went because I like handling my toes. Twisted.

    Dustywood,

Yes, they did a great job every Sunday. I once saw a Mexican worker actually having fun looking at me through the large glass front of the house. Good thing I was looking nice enough. Twisted, again.

On a serious note, I agree with you. The grass is very green and healthy, and the picture was not photoshopped.

  9. I don’t know if you are aware of the human phenomenon of foot fetish!? There are abundant of wacky people out there that worship feet. Strange! Perhaps, but its true.

  10. Hatm Abunimeh,

One would be superficially surprised at what people crave, but looking closely at such cravings they turn out to be no stranger than one’s own.
This certainly does not make people with specific “preferences” wacky, to each his or her own.

  11. I concur, it doesn’t render them wacky.

  12. Oh no, do not keep score. This is not a competition :) Enjoy your stay.

  13. No one suggested that it was competition, I was merely trying to add a little humor to the discussion, and wasn’t really keeping a score. I do enjoy reading your posts although sometimes I had to read them twice in order for me to fathom them.

  15. Hatem Abunimeh,

I sometimes have to read my posts more than twice to really “get” them.

    Sabri Hakim,

Those were my feet. I am still not sure why I devoted an entry for them, perhaps because they’re vital for my transportation?
