Personal Entry: The ATM ate my money
How upsetting! I tried to withdraw some money today (A nice chunk) from a certain ATM, and, well, the machine ate my money! I waited for the sum to come out and then to adorn my purse to no avail.
I, naturally, freaked out. Then I instantly called my personal advisor who assured me all is well and that this sometimes happens (Why?) and is generally solved the next day once the technicians open up the machine and such.
I must say this lady from the bank is very pleasant, I can imagine anyone’s reaction at hearing my voice through the phone with that sharp tone, almost about to burst out of the receiver and to have a nice bite of the other end’s ear. Yet she was composed herself, and that is probably the best face of this bank I have come to explore.

Yeah, it happened several times to me as well. But some times the account doesn’t go back to where it should be, if it didn’t in the next 48 hours, you should contact the Bank branch that the ATM belongs to so they settle the account back manually.
It happens some times when you do a withdrawal transaction, and the ATM is not able to afford the exact amount of cash you asked for (the computer checks the cash availability before it approves the transaction), but sometimes an error happens that approves the amount while it is not available within the ATM Machine box.
With such a reaction of yours at that moment I would say lucky support lady, she was not in a face to face situation… she would’ve seen the punch coming sooner than the words :D

Abdelstar Alslimat,
I will do that the next time some money “really” comes out of the machine.
Hani,
Thank you for sharing your similar experiences. The odd thing about the whole deal is that the machine did not display a message saying that there isn’t sufficient money, the procedure went as smooth as a baby’s skin, and I got nothing. Very pissing I must say.

In it funny how we sometimes blast at somebody who has nothing to do with the actual problem, they just happen to work for the bank/company?
It’s amazing, how I always feel the way you do and what’s more amazing is when they can manage to maintain the composure to bring us back to sanity.
ATM eating your money is ok as long as it doesn’t reduce your bank balance!
