“This World Cup, and life in general, provides these kind of opportunities to people who have suffered in recent times,” said Lippi in Berlin. “One of those people is the best defender in the world, Fabio Cannavaro.”
And there is also the streak of meanness, the ‘thou shalt not pass’ cynicism of the great Italian defenders of the past which makes Cannavaro the complete defender.

Crowned in majesty, il leone. Behold him in all his glory.

Also, if you really want to enjoy Cannavaro. Watch this video, look at the plays at 1:26 and 1:57. There really is no passing this guy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBiiF3mv8rY&search=cannavaro

lol, and this guy gattuso is amazing. Did you see how he was celebrating with his coach? If this is how this guy shows happiness, I don’t want to know how he acts when angry :p Watch, it’s only 7 seconds

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVKXrvr3ySg&search=gattuso

And there’s 2 more Italy videos on my blog!

I absolutely adored how composed Cannavaro was during the penalty shootouts. Whenever Italia planted one in the French nets all the other players jumped in ecstasy but he was observing with such self-possession.

Thank you for the links, I will definitely visit your blog as well to check the rest out!

Tololy, funny; I noticed that too about him during the penalty shootout. Of course he didn’t just stand there when Grosso scored though :D

He’s a lion in man’s clothing.
