I guess, in the classroom the priority for lecturing is for the one who is more knowledgable in the field (or more accurate in describing in that field). If the assigned teacher fails to encompass that knowledge, he might as well shut up and listen! - Thats how I see it..<br />
hi<br />It depends….<br />There r some teachers who feel ok with it…they see teaching is a two-way process , give students and learn from them…in this case a students can appear to be smarter…because at the end there is no one who is an absolute smart or knows everything…..<br />But that does not mean that there r a lot of teachers (and ppl in general) who think themselves as "Abu El 3orreeef"…!<br />
In this part of the world? You better think twice, though never be afraid if it gonna cost you an F in that course!<br /><br />They take it personally, and think you are trying to mock them and they are jealous to see someone younger who knows better or even know what’s the latest in his/her (the teacher/prof) field.<br /><br />My opinion? Don’t be arrogant and think you know better, they are still people who worked hard (or not) to be teaching you! Though never be afraid to tell them they are wrong, even it will costs you an "F"<br /><br />I’ve heard stories of people who Prof made them fail cause they had high GPA. Whatever, screw it, say what you have to say, respectifully of course!<br />
When I was a young graduate student, an older and venerated scholar gave me and my colleagues the following advice for when we would accept our first full time teaching positions:<br /><br />"Beware of ax murderers"<br /><br />The meaning behind this oracular pronouncement was thus: that academics could be mean-spirited folk, so best to lay low & avoid making your ideas and sympathies public knowledge until you know who your allies and enemies are going to be.<br /><br />Perhaps something similar is true for students. It’s best to wait and gauge the personality of the professor before venturing forth with ideas and (Allah forbid) criticisms.<br />
