Ask Tololy a Question: Second Go

In Bits & pieces on May 15, 2007 at 12:22 pm

Inspired by “Ask Tololy a Question,” published back in November 2005; I am re-opening the channels for communication, curiosity, and entertainment.

To revive that post, I would really like to know what questions pop up in your mind(s) when you read my blog. It should be interesting and fun to see what you would like to know now, in contrast to what you wanted to know in 2005.

In brief, ask me anything semi-reasonable and I will answer. What do you want to know?

  1.
1. Does your laptop support bluetooth
2. What mobile phone do you have
3. Is your laptop Celeron/Pentium

More to follow soon!

  2.
Hi Tololy, your English-language writing is indeed superb.

Can you tell something about the highschool (no names necessary) you went to - eg private school or gvt school? .Were the teachers local or from overseas and when you speak English today ,do you speak with an accent as one hears King Abdullah of Jordan speaking English on TV?

And what are your plans today to be profession-wise ?

  3. If E = MC2 and E= Energy, what is your MC2?

  4.
Tololy,

Are you Naseem Tarawnah’s sister ? There is a great deal of similarities between you two.

  5.
Cheers, I am so ready to answer these questions after my
    siesta.

A.,

1. No it doesn’t.
2. I have a brown Nokia 2650.
3. Celeron, I think.

G.,

1. I went to a public high school.
2. My teachers were all local.
3. I don’t have any sort of accent when I speak English. I’m boring like that.
4. I want to be a million things and they change over time. Profession-wise I
would like to end up as a writer/ researcher/traveller/consultant/ambassador:
they’re mostly things to do with culture, diversity, and learning.

Rami,

I sort of have a "Math Scare" so when I saw that formula I almost
panicked. Thank you for including that "your" before MC2!!

If E is Energy, which in my head equals Passion, then my MC2 will have to be
    Action and maybe Dedication.

Hatem,

I’m not Naseem Tarawneh’s sister (actually, none of my brothers and sisters has
a blog), but we do have our paternal roots in Karak as far as I can tell.

  6. Actually this is chemistry.. its Einstein’s theory which lead to the discovery of nuclear fusion (a.k.a. bomb).

To reformulate what you said, your passion is born out of a fusion between your action and dedication, well said Toloy, keep it up!
7. I know it’s chemistry ya Rami, it looks like math still :P

  8. Where did your evil twin disappear?!!

  9. My question comes from two remarks that you have made previously, one where you stated in a conversation "You wouldn’t like to know what I believe" and the second where you stated that you are "Not really religious".

So my question is: What do you believe and how do these beliefs impact on your everyday existence?
10. Dear Tololy,

A good friend of mine is half Adiga/Half Arab. She was planning to attend an Adiga meeting but bowed out when she discovered some of the organizers had racist attitudes towards Arabs. She is a shy person and does not feel comfortable with confrontation. Nevertheless, one of her Adiga acquaintences is urging her to go and confront the racist. What do you think she should do?
11.
Sk8erboi,

My evil twin did not disappear. She’s still alive but not in UTN, and she says
    Hi by the way!

Safiya,

I knew you would ask me that :) Let me first clarify that my opinions and
attitudes have changed over time and I expect that they will continue to do so
    in the future.

Presently, in a nutshell, I have very little, if any, faith in religion in
general. I do believe in a creator but I find that the idea of a creator does
not necessarily require the development of religion.

What I believe has had an impact on my everyday life in that it has changed the
way I look at things, how I think of things, and the way I form my
    relationships.

Peter S,

I think she should not go if she does not feel like having that sort of drama.
If she does feel comfortable with it, then she definitely should go and more
    power to her!
<!–[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]–>
<!–[endif]–>

  12. Favorite actors and actresses?

Favorite novelists?<html:span id="textmarked_13" name="textmarker_14" style="background-color: rgb(51, 255, 255);"></html:span><html:span id="textmarked_12" name="textmarker_13" style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);"></html:span>

Musical preferences<html:span id="textmarked_3" name="textmarker_4" style="background-color: rgb(51, 255, 255);"></html:span><html:span id="textmarked_2" name="textmarker_3" style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);" />?

General outlook<html:span id="textmarked_8" name="textmarker_9" style="background-color: rgb(51, 255, 255);"></html:span> on the long-term<html:span id="textmarked_7" name="textmarker_8" style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);"></html:span><html:span id="textmarked_6" name="textmarker_7" style="background-color: rgb(51, 255, 255);"></html:span> future of the Middle East, Jordan in particular<html:span id="textmarked_11" name="textmarker_12" style="background-color: rgb(51, 255, 255);"></html:span><html:span id="textmarked_10" name="textmarker_11" style="background-color: rgb(51, 255, 255);"></html:span>?<html:span id="textmarked_5" name="textmarker_6" style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);"></html:span><html:span id="textmarked_4" name="textmarker_5" style="background-color: rgb(51, 255, 255);"></html:span> Good, bad, ugly?<html:span id="textmarked_9" name="textmarker_10" style="background-color: rgb(255, 153, 255);"></html:span>
<html:span id="textmarked_1" name="textmarker_2" style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0);"></html:span><html:span id="textmarked_0" name="textmarker_1" style="background-color: rgb(51, 255, 255);"></html:span>

  13. ask me anything semi-reasonable

That’s the part that ruined it for me, right here :O
14. 1) If The Tololy(tm) had to name her top 10 favorite bands… which would The Tololy(tm) pick?

2) If The Tololy(tm) could take any class on any subject in the world, what would it be?

3) What is The Tololy(tm)’s favorite picture of an astronomical phenomenon?
15. This is fun!

Tommy,

1- Sir Anthony Hopkins, Judi Dench.

2- Toni Morrison, Al Tayeb Saleh, Naguib Mahfouz, Sameeha Khrais, Stoker

3- Anything that loves my ears. I listen to classical music, classical rock, epic metal, Arabic oldies (especially Abdul Halim and Ragheb Alama), latino music, ethno if it makes me dance, everything basically.

4- I wish things were that simple. It will always be a marriage between the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Craig,

Sorry! You can email me your non-reasonable questions if you like, how’s that?

The Vincent,

1- Scorpions, Aerosmith, Haggard, Apocalyptica, Rhapsody, The Cranberries, 3 Doors Down, Depeche Mode… Can’t think — brain freeze.

2- Just one class? Why, why torment me so!! Classics, Italian/Latin, Art History, Scuba Diving, it’s a looong list :)

3- I never thought of that. The most astounding piece of work that I’ve ever seen in the sky is a shower of meteors, but I don’t have a picture for that.
16. Question:
Do you believe secularism does good for a country?
especially ones with a vast amount of religious minorities like Lebanon for example?

17. The Scorpions! Ewww!

  18. Omar,

I think in a country where so many religions exist, a very civil, non-religious approach to matters would probably work best. Bas beddak yeqten3o el nas b had el eshe!

The Vincent,

Some things are better left untold, huh?
19.
Tell her I say Hi back!

  20. The Tololy(tm):

Fair enough, fair enough. Still. The Scorpions?! :)

Here’s another question for you:

How are you going to celebrate when you finally make it through the Miserable Month of May(tm)?
21. I will do something outrageous. Cannot disclose details :)

  22.
Are you half Adiga? In what way? Ur surename is Adiga or not? Is there any existance of adigas in Karak?

And i dont feel you tend to mix with Adigas! Or am i wrong?

  23. Naryat,

My mother is Adiga and therefore I am an Arab-Adiga hybrid. My family name is obviously not Circassian and I do not think there are Adigas in Karak except students in the universities there. I don’t have a problem mixing with any race of people really, and half my family and a number of my friends are Adiga, so there… :)
