Out Flickr, In Picasa?

I tried upgrading to a Flickr pro account the other day, but the site kept rejecting my card. I’ve used this card to shop online for lots of things and never had any problems with it, ever! I emailed support a week ago and still have not received a response, which is what I call poor customer service. So I am punishing Flickr by depriving them from the unmatched visual arts of my camera. Take that, you lowly credit card eaters!

I’m giving Picasa a shot for now…

The application is surprisingly smooth. Using it makes me feel like I’m in the Matrix or something because it has neat “gliding” effects, and I can upload things directly from my computer and do some supernice things with them. Also, I don’t think Picasa limits the number of albums I can have as a free account holder, which is really sweet. So far, I am in love with Picasa and I wonder why I never checked it out previously. I guess I was blinded by Flickr Power…but now I can see.

The only glitch I have faced until now is that I can’t view my photos when I upload them, not instantly at least. I am not sure why that is but yesterday I was testing Picasa with a friend who saw my pictures no problems, but I only got empty boxes. Today, I can see them alright. This is not a big deal to me but I hope Picasa people do something about it. That way I might even buy extra storage with them, sayonara Flickr!

The Box Is Saved!

Hallelujah!

I love that I can ask for help and get it, and I love that you care about Tololy’s Box. I can safely announce that TB loads faster now. It’s alive…

In the past (yesterday), I used a stopwatch to monitor loading time. Then a nice person suggested I use Pingdom… It feels good to step into the Light.

I still need to do a couple of things to reduce the loading time, but it’s all good because I learned a lot since yesterday. I would like to thank Sk8erboi, Firas, and Ash for their doctor-like awesome help. I really appreciate that and thou shall get cookies.

And of course everyone else who was concerned about the health of the Box gets a virtual cookie…

The Box Is Slow, Fix It?

Hello! This is Tololy from, you know, Tololy’s Box. I’ve been receiving complaints lately from you dear readers that this blog is heavy and slow. You don’t like that, I don’t like that. The glitch here is that I lack the technomagic to fix it.

Upon the advice of a buddy, I removed that banner from the sidebar (nobody signed up for SiteGround through here, therefore I did not get the bonus 3 months of free hosting, thank you very much) and I reduced the number of posts that appear on the main page. That cut down on the loading time of the Box, but not enough.

So…

Dear Gods of technomagic and everything wonderful and IT-like, do you have any suggestions on how to make this place load faster? Help, advice, suggestions, and volunteer work are all welcome. If you have a good idea or want to flex your cyborg muscles, then you’re my man/woman!

P.S: Will reward with cookies.

This song is my ultimate favorite these days. I found it while watching a pole dance video on YouTube. Now I just keep playing it over and over again, and for some reason it makes me want to cry. So few songs move me this way… Beautiful, original, touching.
