The family reputation rests on producing submissive women like Ford's rests on producing reliable cars. If the reputation is gone, so is all the money, power and status that men derive from supplying domesticated women to their friends and alllies. Women are objects of transaction. So-called 'honour' like is a kitemark: a guarantee that means you can't transact a woman without it. I think the defintion of ‘honour’ in this sense is not vagina.
