Getting a piercing is quite cool (not on the belly-button though). I’d like to get one my self. It adds something "shiny and cool" to your body, but I wouldn’t really call it "body art".
What I do think when I come across the word "body art" is the way the human body itself is created, which I must say at this point that I totally disagree with you on tattooing!

Right… I did notice that … and I did go back and search for other posts that mentioned you are vieled and noticed that they were before your joyous occassion … but I may have been mistaken, hence the question! :)

Out of mere curiosity :) since I have my own strong views about Hijab, its representation and my own expectations of those who choose to wear it!

Veiled or not Iman, I am OK with a lot of things other (veiled or not) people are not OK with. And vice versa, they are OK with things I am not OK with… it’s what makes the world go round. In the post, I mentioned something about my hair being short. I don’t suppose that means I was veiled at that point in time :)

That’s great…and a quite interesting statement… It still doesn’t really answer my question as to whether or not you’re veiled …But, generally, as a veiled woman who believes in what she has on, I would think - and maybe I am being impractical here - that she’d be a bit choosy over…oh… who pierces her bellybutton :) … but anyway…. at the end of the day, don’t we all strive to do what makes us feel good?!

Nice, 15 piercings.. on ears.. hope they are well done and symmetric, otherwise won’t be ‘too’ cool..
But i rather like the navel piercing more that any other part..

Out of curiosity and I hope you don’t take this the wrong way … BUT I always thought you were veiled…not that veiled women can’t get belly piercings …but I would think they’d be pretty selective about the gender of who’s doing it for them.

I think belly piercings are nice, but nose piercings look aukward.

Come, come Batir… It isn’t that bad. Some people (myself included) think some forms of body art can beautify the human body.

Sabeur, welcome to Tololy’s Box. I am so glad you commented. Getting your earlobe pierced will not hurt any more than a small sting of a needle. It will also heal pretty quickly if it is done in the earlobe and the process is done properly. If it’s the cartilege you want to pierce, it will hurt a little more and healing will take longer. Either way, go for it! Don’t wait until you grow older and can’t do it anymore.

Lulu, you’re welcome. My mother was pretty angry when I told her about it some days later and my lie about her being OK with it was exposed. But hey, I had my piercing by then and nothing on earth could have taken it away from me so it was all good. My father doesn’t know still and I don’t think he will find out. In my defense, at least I didn’t get a tattoo!

I like what you said about not judging people, and I think I like you for it. Rock on.

Thanks for sharing this experience. I’ve always wondered how people felt when they got their belly button pierced. How did your parents react? lol…It is interesting to see how the old generation reacts against anything different. I’ve taught myself (I use the word ‘taught’ because I have parents who appose these things too) to judge people by their metality and actions, not by the color of their hair dye or the number of their tattoes and piercings.
