Wow, I had never heard of piercing migration before. But it does partially explain why, after ten years, mine has started to turn sideways.

My biggest loss was my nose ring - it refused to heal and the doctor ordered the snorting of salt and water for a while. It was a cunning dual tactic, succeeding in both healing the damage and putting me off further piercing forays for a while!

By the way - the new site is fabulous :-)

It is so sad when you lose a much loved piercing.

Naval piercings are actually more prone to infection then to migration, so it could have been a lot worse.

Nipple rings are also very likely to migrate, but aside from that, are fairly trouble free. However, the most temporary piercings are definitely eyebrow piercings, it's one year maximum, before it grows out.

P.S Have you heard of a tattoo artist called Kat Von D? She one of the most famous tattoo artists in America.
My condolences! I never thought a piercing issue would have my on the edge of my seat. Here's hoping it heals so that you can spare yourself the trouble of going all the way back to Big Joe & Sons, and insha'Allah you'll be laughing about the almost-tragedy of your navel come December 31.

...and I'm curious, exactly what kind of "particular" mood does one have to be in to get a nipple ring? Seems like you already have the requisite love for piercing.
sounds horrible! i remember when i was younger i got a really horrible golf-sized inflamation in one of the 5 holes per ear i had as a child, and the doctor MADE me get rid of 2 of them. It was more painful letting the piercing go than going through the pain of the inflammation.
i really hope it heals!
:( I really hope the migration stops and the piercing stays. The story of how you got that piercing was probably one of the most interesting things I read on your blog, and anyone who's been following your writings understands how significant it is...
