The same thing happened to me today and I almost called in sick to avoid getting out of bed :P But I thought I'd save that for the colder days to come!

I'm not an economist either, but I think people should share some responsibility in adjusting to the skyrocketing prices, just don't aske me how ;)

On a separate note, perhaps you should avenge from whoever that is who woke you up so early ;)

I'm not an economist either, but it sound slike the Jordanian government may have hired Jimmy Carter as an economic consultant.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inflation

Mainstream economists overwhelmingly agree that high rates of inflation are caused by high rates of growth of the money supply.

As I udnerstand it, there are two ways that inflation rates become a serious problem.

The first is when a government tries to improve the economy by artificial means ie "printing more money", though there are many mechanisms by which governments try to do this. This is always bad, for obvious reasons.

The second is when an economy undergoes a period of real growth, and individual incomes have gone up. This is always good.

In both cases, teh way inflation is controlled in a countyry like the US is to raise interest rates. Doing so artificially tightens the supply of ready spending money, for both individuals and businesses. This may not work ina country liek Jordan, though. If people (and businesses) don't have a habit of obtaining credit to make purchases, then raising teh interest rate may not have much of an impact.

Well, enough talking about an issue I don't understand very well. I hope you guys can get the inflation under control. Inflation has been a problem the US has faced ona number of occassions, during my lifetime. Most notably, when Jimmy Carter was President. You know inflation is bad when even a little kid notices it :O
