Hani accessibility is a very important thing. It’s not only for blind people. But add to those people who have reading issues and rely on a text reader for browsing.

It’s your call really, but It would be better is you put it back, since it works well as I can see here

I know my approach has been way more holistic (recreating Akesmet and whatnot) but it was still fun :)

Since I installed Peter’s plugin 10 days ago, I’ve only had 3 spam comments in my spam folder whereas normally I’d have around 100 in 10 days. I disabled the speech though since I don’t have any blind readers that I know of!

I suggest adding a quick and dirty embed tag in line. This would make wav files play in the browser without having to install quicktime or otherwise

From the statistics that I’ve seen, more people have flash installed than quicktime, which means, I would be more inclined to do the embedded flash thingie

Thanks for responding Peter. That was super quick! I am not a very techie person but maybe some readers of my blog will suggest ways for audio playback.

Hi, the "download the file" behavior is actually a feature of the user’s setup. For example, my browser is configured to play .wav files in Quicktime embedded in the browser. If I didn’t have Quicktime installed and configured as such, when I click on a link to play the .wav, the browser will pop up a download link. One thing that I could do with the plugin is to use a Flash player to play the audio file on the page itself, but then that relies on users having Flash installed. So I figured that the best way to make the audio file accessible to as many people as possible is to simply let the user’s setup decide how to handle the .wav file (although I am open to suggestions for a better way).

There’s something funny about the setup. When you click it, you actually download the file instead of playing an embedded version of it in the page

The developer might want to take a note of that (or it might be a configuration issue)

I’m not a captcha person! They will eventually all be broken… but hey … ya3teeki el 3afyeh for making your reader’s life easier :)
