Linuxed!
I am now safely Linuxed, thanks to Jad who met me this morning and fixed the mess that I created last night.
Installing Ubuntu, the version of Linux I am now using, was easy. It was piss actually and anyone can do it. You just follow the instructions and you’re done. BUT, being the troublemaker that I am, I admit that I messed things up last night. That was not entirely my fault, but also the fault of a bit old version of Ubuntu and some technical jargon I could not understand.
I accidentally erased everything on my HDD, and as a consequence, wanted to go back to Windows. Windows was gone by then, so I tried re-installing Ubuntu to gain access to an OS. Then, my laptop got really confused and said ENOUGH, thou shalt never enter here again! I was heartbroken until this morning when Jad fixed it for me. I should be bummed over losing my recent pictures and documents, but I am not. Not very much, at least. C’est la vie.
So far, I am loving the change. I even found a way to play my favorite strategy game (Caesar III) through Ubuntu. I am sure the ride will be bumpy along the way, but I enjoy trying new things and so I am glad things worked out.

My first thought on the last post was CALL JAD!!! Hardly a geek with no life, he’s a great guy ready to help! Mabruuk!<br /><br />

Now that’s the kind of post I can reply to, aside from posts with people attacking you :P<br /><br />I use Linux AND Windows on my laptop, ask Jad to help you with that, to Dual boot, it’s fun. I use Linux most of the time, and if I have extra time, I research what I want to do, if there’s no time, I just switch to Windows<br /><br />Mr. Anonymous, this doesn’t mean Windows is easier, actually, Linux is MUCH easier, we’re just all more *windows* oriented :)<br /><br />Good luck Tol. Nice work Jad!<br />

Compaitable with everything?? How many drivers do you have to install when you install windows? I can say with confidence its more then 3, possibly 5 or 6? <br /><br />I install one driver with ubuntu, and I don’t even <span style="font-style: italic;">need</span> to do it. My computer operates out of the box with a stock Ubuntu install, graphics sound etc. <span style="font-style: italic;">That </span>is compaitability. <br /><br />After using Ubuntu for 3 year, each time I used a Windows machine seems like a struggle to get it to do what I want. <br /><br />Good luck Toloy’s, You’ll never look back!<br /><br /><br />

Thanks for the comments everyone. So far, Linux has been excellent. I am very grateful to Jad for helping me out (right on, Kinzi). </p>

As much as this is cool, this shows exactly the problem with Linux. You always need to "call someone" to help you do the most basic of things like.. "Start your computer"</p>
<p>Anyway, good luck :)</p>

Just to be clear, like I said in the post, I (Tololy, myself, me, etc) made a mistake initially and it complicated things. Installing Linux is simple, computer starts normally, so on and so forth.

Yes, I remember that. Funny how somehow, there are these OS’s that make people blame themselves for things :)</p>
<p>By the way, I’m just kidding with you. I actually wish you good luck with it</p>

Welcome, Tololy, to a whole new world of freedom you cannot yet imagine. :)<br /><br />I’m happy your initial failures with Ubuntu haven’t caused you to completely give it up.<br />
